We offer storage trailer rentals! The Specialty Poxy crew will deliver your storage trailer a couple of days before your garage floor is installed. The trailer will be picked up a few days after your floor has cured so you have time to move your items back into your garage. Click here for more info on our storage trailers.

No, all we need is access to the garage and we can take it from there. You can even lock the door to the house, we bring all of our own power and are completely self-sufficient.

Typically the walls should be painted before our installation so that any overspray or spills on the concrete can be removed during the diamond grinding process.

We do not do basement installations at this time. 

We never recommend completely filling the Expansion Joints of the floor. Expansion Joints are built into the floor for the purpose of allowing expanding/contracting movement in the concrete. If the joints are filled, it will increase the risk of future cracking in the floor along the joint lines. 

However, the joints will be sealed in the same manner as the rest of the floor and will have a  smooth, coved shape.

If the perimeter stem walls are requested to be coated, we will not only coat the exposed concrete but will also grind down the perimeter Celotex a bit and inject caulking to fill the gap.

Doing this will vapor seal the entire garage floor. Keeping water from going down into the soil beneath. 

The skirt is typically 6” past the garage doors. If repairs need to be done to the outside skirt of concrete then it is recommended to coat over those to hide the repair marks. Outside of that, the main reason to coat all the way out or keep the coating on the inside of the door is an aesthetic choice. Many clients have to decide whether or not the garage color will match the exterior color selection of the house. 

One thing to note, if coating all the way out, the garage doors cannot be closed for 24 hours. Under certain circumstances this can leave the floor vulnerable during its curing stage. High winds and leaf debris is one example of this. Each garage is different and we are happy to discuss both of these options with you during your estimate or your installation.

If the primary reason you are coating your garage floor is to hide dirt, then we recommend earth tones.

For the most part, the drainage patterns you have will be the same after the coating. The product we use is about 20-30 ml thick, so it is not meant to fill any voids in the concrete. 

Thankfully most of the process has little to no odor. However the final clear coat has a strong, lacquer type smell when it’s initially applied. The smell can be managed by allowing adequate airflow in the garage during the curing process. With proper ventilation, the strong smell should dissipate within 24/48 hours.

Once the installation is complete and the final clear coat has been applied, it’s not uncommon to find a few leftover clear coat crumbs from the installation process. These come in the form of little crumb like objects that can stick out from the surface of the clearcoat. They are random and always minimal but can be noticeable at times. With normal usage, these will nip off overtime without affecting the rest of the coating.

Stem walls are inherently a little more rough than the floor because the liquid clear coat cannot go on as thick as it does on a horizontal surface. On a vertical surface a heavy application of clear coat will simply drain down the face and pool at the bottom. Therefore a more manageable amount is applied to seal the stem wall properly but not cause pooling at the base. 

The main reason the stem walls are coated is not for function since they do not experience the same ware and tear as the floor. The primary reason is to aesthetically cover the raw concrete that is exposed. 

This can happen when excess clear coat pools in the expansion joints. As it cures bubbles can get trapped in the clear coat and may be visible. This is not uncommon, and can be easily fixed, so please contact us if you see this on your floor and we can send our team out right away to fix this.

Cleaning your new floor is very simple. We recommend cleaning your floor using Dawn Dish soap and a push broom to act as a scrubber. Mineral spirits can be used if paint or sticky adhesives get on the coating.
